Citroën Acadiane

Citroën Acadiane

The Acadiane (internal designation AYCD ) was a car model of the French car manufacturer Citroen. The van was based on the Dyane.

The name is derived from the pronunciation of " AK Dyane " (AK was model name of the 2CV van ), has nothing to do with Acadiana, formerly the French home of the Cajuns in the southern U.S. state of Louisiana.

While the 2CV Dyane could not replace, the Acadiane has already appeared in the summer of 1978, the successor to the AK- box car. In addition, it has been three years longer built as the Dyane.

Technology

The Acadiane had from the beginning to the larger engine with 602 cc displacement and 31 hp ( 23 kW) at 5750 rpm and a maximum torque of 41.2 Nm at 3500 rpm. The chassis was similar to the 2 CV: All wheels were suspended on parallel swing with horizontal coil springs. The vehicle is provided at the front axle with disc brakes. Thanks to the (compared to the 2CV AK / AKS ) something windschlüpfigeren form the top speed increased to almost 100 km / h

The consumption was according to ECE standard at 90 km / h and 5.7-liter in city driving 7.2 liters of premium petrol.

The vehicle was different from the saloon by a 135 mm longer wheelbase, a higher, fixed roof over the front seats and the box-like cargo space behind the B -pillar. This structure could be loaded by a shared 1 m wide double doors at the rear. The box structure was greater than that of the AK 400, he could take a Euro pallet lengthways and adopted a total of 2.27 m³. The allowable load was 435 kg. Standard were side windows, rectangular multi-chamber tail lights instead of the round of the AK and rubber horns that served together with a transverse tube as the rear bumper. In the sides of the box body down in front of the wheel wells were located the fuel tank ( passenger side ) and an externally accessible, not lockable compartment ( driver's side).

Unlike the Dyane the van was equipped with crank windows. The Acadiane had armrests and storage pockets on the door panels, the two-spoke steering wheel of the 2CV Spécial and two mirrors. More accessories was a small tool bag, a cause - and jack handle, which could be used as a wheel brace and a wooden chock.

In France, these vehicles were often found at the post office and small businesses. In Germany, he was a minimalist camper ( " duck tour " ) quite common. There were various and expanding forms such as a four-seater manufactured in Belgium or altered versions of Yugoslav production.

In February 1981, the price of the car including VAT amounted to DM 9100

Production figures

From summer 1978 until the end of 1987 253 393 units of the Citroën Acadiane were built. In Spain, it was marketed under the name Dyane 400.

Successor

In 1984, the C15, a box car based on the Citroën Visa, to the market was brought, of the approximately 10,000 FF was, however, more expensive.
