Citrus Hills is a census -designated place (CDP ) in Citrus County in the U.S. state of Florida with 7,470 inhabitants ( 2010).

Geography

Citrus Hills is located about 5 km north- west of Inverness and about 120 km north of Tampa. The CDP is affected by the Florida State Road 44.

Demographics

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 61.5 % of all households lived in 13.4 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 78.5 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 2.16 persons and the average family size is 2.41 people.

11.6% of the population were younger than 20 years, 7.9% were 20 to 39 years old, 21.7% were 40-59 years old and 58.8 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 63 years. 48.5 % of the population were male and 51.5 % female.

The average annual income was $ 58,904, while 7.7 % of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 94.95 % of the population spoke Spanish 3.51% and 1.54 % spoke French.
