Cittiglio

Cittiglio is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 4012 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Varese, in the Lombardy region. The community is located about 15 kilometers northwest of Varese on Boesio. Cittiglio is part of the Comunità Montana Valli del Verbano. Four kilometers northwest of Cittiglio is the shore of Lake Maggiore.

History

As Cistellum the village was first mentioned in 998 Diplomatic Codex lombardo.

Traffic

The station of the municipality lies on the railway line Saronno Laveno- Mombello. Through the community, the Strada Statale 394 Orientale del Verbano ( and one today downgraded the provincial road Strada Statale 394 dir- branch ) leads from here to Laveno -Mombello or the Swiss border.
