The City Montessori School ( Hindi: सिटी मॉन्टेसरी स्कूल, लखनऊ ) is a private Montessori School in Lucknow, India. It shall apply with over 40,000 students, the largest school in the world.

History

The school was founded in 1959 by Jagdish and Bharti Gandhi. The couple borrowed 300 rupees and founded with five children a Montessori school. 2002 won the school the UNESCO Prize for Peace Education. In 2005, the school broke the world record for the school with the most students, as they replaced the hitherto largest school in the Philippines with about 20,000 students with nearly 29 212 students.

2010 was the founder of the school's "Hope for Humanity Award" by the Dalai Lama. In the school year 2010/1011, the school had 2,500 teachers, 39,437 students and 1,000 classroom. Currently should learn at the school claims to be already 47,000 students.

Description

The CMS provides holistic learning and teaches the principles of Montessori education. The students are aged between three and 17 years old. The class size is about 45 children. Every child must, as usual in India, wear a school uniform. The school fees are for the younger 1,000 rupees, for the older 2,500 rupees per month. The school has 20 locations in the city.
