City of Bayside

- 37.95145Koordinaten: 37 ° 57 ' S, 145 ° 0' O Bayside City is a Local Government Area ( LGA) in the Australian state of Victoria. Bayside is part of the city of Melbourne, the capital of Victoria. The area is 37 km ² and has about 90,000 inhabitants.

Bayside is located at the far end of Port Phillip Bay to the southeast of Port Phillip, 12 to 22 km from the city center and includes nine neighborhoods: Beaumaris, Black Rock, Brighton, Brighton East, Cheltenham, Hampton, Hampton East, Highett and Sandringham. The seat of the City Council is located in Sandringham, which is also the terminus of the Sandringham Railway Line of Hampton, Brighton to South Yarra towards the center.

The first settlement on City area was in 1841 a farm in Brighton. The area was initially used agriculturally, as it evolved due to the 17 km long sandy beach soon to the recreation area of Melbourne and the second home betuchteren capital city.

Two thirds of the employees of Bayside to work in the Central Business District in the Melbourne city center. Trade and services dominate the economy of the area with only a small portion of the processing industry.

A special attraction of the beach of Brighton are the Bathing boxes, 82 brightly painted wooden cabins ( about 2 mx 2.5 m floor space) along the beach.

Management

The Bayside City Council has nine members, who are elected by the residents of the nine Wards. These nine electoral districts (Abbott, Charman, Clayton, Dendy, Ebden, Mair, Moysey, Smith and Werewolf ) are set independently of the districts. From the circle of Councillor also the Mayor ( Mayor ) of the Council recruited.
