CityNightLine

The City Night Line CNL AG was an operating company of night passenger trains on railway lines in Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland, Denmark, Czech Republic, Italy and France. The company, initially a subsidiary of German Railways (DB), Austrian Federal Railways ( ÖBB) was and Swiss Federal Railways (SBB ) as a joint stock company under Swiss law and headquartered in Zurich. The train type operated by the company City Night Line was operated since 2010 by the DB AutoZug, which was merged in September 2013 to the DB long-distance transport.

History

The City Night Line CNL AG ( also abbreviated CNL AG) was originally a joint venture of Deutsche Bahn (DB ), the Austrian Federal Railways ( ÖBB) and the Swiss Federal Railways ( SBB). The first train of the joint venture was driving on 28 May 1995 a specially procured for this " Talgo " train set. Since the departure of the ÖBB and SBB, the company was a subsidiary of DB long-distance transport and thus belonged to the DB Group. The trains have now been operated in cooperation with its sister company DB AutoZug.

In 2000, the company had 460,000 passengers in 2001 their number was 490,000. Revenue increased in the same period by one million to 64.5 million francs.

For December 9, 2007 the night trains of the Deutsche Bahn was bundled under the brand City Night Line, the new train type replaced so that the DB night train, the Holiday Express and the former City Night Line. In addition to a uniform standard of comfort and service, the color scheme was renewed; the City Night Line, the previous blue was replaced by light gray with red ribbon window. The trains of the City Night Line now also drove to Italy and France.

With the timetable change on 14 December 2008, the rail service has been greatly changed; for example, individual trains and train parts were coupled or shared in Frankfurt am Main. Certain relations were only offered on weekends and other lines, including Hamburg- Paris, complete set.

City Night Line today

On January 1, 2010, the entire business of the City Night Line, including all related side activities was completely transferred to the affiliated company DB AutoZug in Dortmund. The product name and the type of train CityNightLine remained. In September 2013 DB AutoZug was dissolved and merged with DB long-distance transport.
