Ciudad del Carmen is a city in the Mexican state of Campeche. She takes the southwestern part of the Isla del Carmen, a, an, the Laguna de Términos the Bay of Campeche ( Gulf of Campeche, Gulf of Mexico ) towards demarcating Island, off the coast of the Yucatán Peninsula.

After the town was only accessible by ferry for years, she was tied up in the 1990s on two toll bridges in the eastern ( Puente de la Unidad ) or Western ( Puente Zacatal ) mainland. It lies about 215 kilometers by road southwest of Campeche and about 175 road kilometers northwest of Villahermosa on the highway MEX -180, which leads over the two bridges.

It has an international airport. The IATA airport code is CME.

The city calls itself happy as the "Pearl of the Gulf ".
