Civil aviation is facing military aviation.

General Aviation (General Aviation ) is called the largest by number of aviation equipment field of civil aviation. It includes all civilian air traffic, with the exception of scheduled and charter traffic with commercial aircraft by airlines. Flight operation involving the carriage of passengers, cargo or mail is referred to as commercial air transport.

In order to unify the rules of international civil aviation, the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO ) was established. It makes recommendations and guidelines, developed by the Member States - will be implemented - with occasional modifications. Even non-member states often lean on these recommendations and guidelines.

International Air Transport Association (IATA ) is the international organization of airlines.
