Civil Order of Saxony

The Civil Merit was founded on June 7, 1815 by King Frederick Augustus I of Saxony and was awarded to all persons who had acquired services to the Kingdom of Saxony.

By amendments to the Statutes on 18 March 1858 Small cross was converted into a Cross of Honour and on January 31, 1876 in the Knight's Cross Second Class. Simultaneously, a Distinguished Service Cross was introduced in place of the gold medal of merit.

For military merit, the Order could also come with crossed swords by the cross angle to the ceremony.

Order decoration

The religious character is a goldgerändertes white enamelled cross with royal crowns (from 1891) in the cross angles. The medallion is the winning Saxon coat of arms with the inscription FRIED.AUG.KVSACHSEN.D.7.JUN.1815. (corresponding to " Frederick Augustus King of Saxony the June 7 1815. ". ) to see. At the back in the medallion is surrounded by a green enamelled oak wreath, the four-line inscription FOR MERIT AND LOYALTY can be seen. On the model for foreigners is the inscription THE MERITS.

Carrying method

The Grand Cross is worn on a sash from the right shoulder to the left hip and chest with a eight-pointed star. Commander I and II class wearing the Order around the neck, the first class with an additional four-engined breast star. The other classes decorate the award on band on the left chest.

The ribbon is white with a green grass verges.
