Civil Revolution

Rivoluzione Civile ( Civil Revolution) is an Italian electoral alliance of the left, the Communists and the Greens, which was created on 29 December 2012 as the fusion of different parties.

Composition

The parties, who formed themselves into Rivoluzione Civile in December 2012:

  • Partito della Rifondazione Comunista (PRC ), Chairman: Paolo Ferrero
  • Partito dei Comunisti Italiani ( PdCl ), Chairman: Antonio Diliberto
  • Italia dei Valori ( IdV ), Chairman: Antonio Di Pietro
  • Federazione dei Verdi ( FdV ), Chairman Angelo Bonelli
  • Movimento Arancione (MA ), Chairman: Luigi de Magistris, Mayor of Naples

Candidates

The party who described himself as Lista Civica per le Elezioni Nazionali ( civil list for the National elections), stepped up to the parliamentary elections of 2013. Leader of the party is the Sicilian prosecutor Antonio Ingroia, who took as the leading candidate. Other candidates were inter alia:

  • The journalist Sandro Ruotolo ( ran in different regions of the Chamber of Deputies )
  • Paolo Ferrero ( ran in Piedmont for the Chamber of Deputies )
  • Roberta Fantozzi ( ran in Tuscany for the Senate )
  • Ilaria Cucchi ( ran in Lazio for the Chamber of Deputies )

Election results

On February 25, 2013, the election results were announced by the Interior Ministry. Rivoluzione Civile therefore won 2.6% of the vote and failed to reach the Italian Parliament. Ingroia then reported on Twitter confident the party would not dissolve.
