Číž

Číž ( until 1948 slovak " CIZ "; Hungarian Csíz ) is a municipality and health resort in Okres Rimavská Sobota within the Banskobystrický kraj in Slovakia.

Geography

The place is located in the eastern part of the southern Slovakian boiler by the brook Teska, the south of the village in the Rimava which opens into the Slaná again after a few kilometers. The city Rimavská Sobota is situated about 25 kilometers to the NW and the city Tornaľa about 20 kilometers to the north.

The municipality is divided into the districts Číž and Číž - kúpele.

History

Číž was first mentioned in 1274 in a document as Chyz and belonged to the Thuka family, and later various lower nobles. 1860 iodine - bromine - springs were discovered here, from which then developed a health resort. Here high blood pressure, musculoskeletal disorders and vascular diseases are traded.
