CJD Christophorusschule Königswinter

The CJD Christophorusschule Winter King is a nationally recognized, private alternative school in the Rhein- Sieg-Kreis (North Rhine -Westphalia, on the border with Rhineland -Palatinate ), whose carrier is the Christian Youth Village in Germany ( CJD). It consists of a secondary school and a secondary school, which are equivalent to the corresponding state schools. History

The St. Christopher School was founded in 1992 on behalf of CJD by Hans -Joachim Gardyan, with the College at the beginning consisted of about twenty teachers, seven of which up to that point, as Gardyan themselves had also taught at the CJD Braunschweig. In 1992 the school with a total of 360 students from grades 5-8 of secondary school and grades 5-11 at the Gymnasium. In September 2005, with support from the German Telekom Foundation and its president Klaus Kinkel started a junior engineer academies in the differentiation of the high school field, which modifies the Baden- Württemberg Student Engineering Academy for middle school. Location

The St. Christopher School is located near the Königswinterer old town, about 200 meters from the River Rhine. Immediately adjacent are the boarding school, the church of Mary, Queen of Peace, an outdoor sports court, sports hall and the Königswinterer Paul- Lemmerz indoor pool. The school includes an auditorium with 700 seats, which is used for school events and occupies a central position within the school complex by a characteristic roof shape and the location in the middle of the higher courtyard.

The school offers an extensive extra-curricular education with about 90 working groups, including a junior company, an apiary, a sanitary AG and a Japanese -AG. Japanese is taught as a subject at sixth form and can be chosen as Abitur.

All students of the introductory year of the high school ( class 10) make at the end of the first half of a three-week social internship. Religion is a compulsory subject until graduation. Students with reading and spelling difficulties can be supported by a specialist in a course at school.

Since 2004 it is possible to obtain the internationally recognized DELF diploma (French), since 2005, the Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency ( English ). Since 2007, the acquisition of the DELE (Spanish) is possible.

A school affiliated music school ENABLES learning different instruments. Furthermore, there was until 2012 a renowned band called tinnitus.

Award

On 26 April 2010, the CJD Winter King was awarded at the award of the First School Prize of North Rhine -Westphalia for the Gifted with second place.

Since September 2011, the CJD King Winter is MINT - friendly school.
