CKC Chinese Input System

The Chinese input method of CKC is a Chinese input method for computers to encode characters. The method is applied, the four- corner method.

The coding used at most four numbers ('0 'to '9 ') for the display of a Chinese character. Any characteristics of the strokes that make up a Chinese character were classified into ten groups. Each group is given by one of the ten possible numbers. The Chinese characters can be entered to by determining the lines according to the four corners of the character. The simplicity of coding by ten numbers allows the input of Chinese characters on a numeric keypad.

There are both traditional characters as well for characters available supplements. However, the starting points of the coding apply to both writings. This means that the user must be trained only once and that the ability of both applies to the version of Chinese input method of CKC with traditional characters than on the short with characters.

Training in the field of Chinese input method of CKC are from CKC Centre for the Development of Information Technology for Chinese Language Teaching at The Hong Kong Institute of Education, IVE Haking Wong and the Centre for Advancement of Chinese Language Education and Research at the Hong Kong University performed.
