Claire's mouse lemur

The Claire- mouse lemur ( Microcebus mamiratra ) is a living primate in Madagascar from the kind of mouse lemurs within the group of lemurs. The species was first described in 2006, the name honors Claire Hubbard, the Foundation supported the research and conservation measures of the Malagasy primates financially. In the described 2007 Type Microcebus lokobensis it would be the same way.

Features

Claire- mouse lemurs are medium-sized members of its family, they reach a body length of 12 to 14 centimeters, to which another 15 to 17 centimeters long tail comes. The weight varies between 50 and 70 grams. Their fur is yellowish-white at the top of reddish- brown and the belly. Along the front half of the back extends a white dorsal stripe that runs in the back part of the back. The rounded head is slightly brighter in color than the body, the eyes are enlarged as an adaptation to the nocturnal lifestyle.

Dissemination and lifestyle

Claire- mouse lemurs are endemic to the island of Nosy Be off the northwest coast of Madagascar. Their habitat are rainforests.

Over the life of these newly discovered species is little known. Like all mouse lemurs, they are likely to be active at night and sleep during the day in nests of leaves or tree cavities. They usually spend their time in trees, where they move on all fours or jumping. Mouse lemurs are mostly omnivorous, which mainly take fruits and insects to him.

Endangering

It can currently make any statements about the level of danger of the Claire- mouse lemurs, but parts of their range are protected. The IUCN lists the species under "too little data available " ( data deficient ).
