Claire Bloom
Claire Bloom CBE (* February 15, 1931 in London; actually Patricia Claire Blume) is a British actress.
Life
Claire Bloom was born as a daughter of the businessman Edward Max Blume and writer Elizabeth Grew in London. After her mother married the sculptor Edward Bloom, they not only took his family name, but was also the half-sister of the future Oscar-winning Cutters John Bloom. At the age of only 12, she attended acting school. From 1946 she played at the Oxford Repertory Theatre, Shakespeare Memorial Theatre, then at Stratford- upon- Avon and has made himself as in his early years as a theater actress a name.
Her first role in the film, she played in 1948 in The Blind Goddess, had her breakthrough as a film actress in 1952 with the Chaplin film spotlight, in which she had been cast in the lead female role of young dancer Terry.
