Claire Danes

Claire Catherine Danes ( born April 12, 1979 in New York City ) is an American actress.

Biography

Professional career

As a twelve year old daughter of a New York artist couple Danes should get a role in Steven Spielberg's Schindler's List. However, as one could predict no tutor for the time of the shooting in Poland her, her parents refused the role. Previously played Danes by 1992 in an episode role on the hit series Law & Order. Their main role in the television series Welcome to life (1994-1995) brought Danes a Golden Globe, and made her and her television partner Jared Leto or during their training at the Performing Arts High School of New York to film stars.

For the movie Titanic Claire Danes was offered the lead role of Rose. It refused, however, because she recently starred in the film Romeo Juliet. 1998 Danes received a London Critics Circle Film Award for Best Actress in the film William Shakespeare's Romeo Juliet, the acting was her breakthrough at the same time. After finishing the filming of Brokedown Palace in September 1998, she began a four-year psychology degree from Yale University ( with a letter of recommendation written by Oliver Stone ). Since 2002, Danes worked constantly at her film career and played among other things in the film Igby Goes Down with Drama. In 2010 she received for the title role of the autistic Temple Grandin in the HBO television movie You're not alone Emmy and her second Golden Globe Award in 2011. Since 2011 she plays the lead role of Carrie Mathison in the Showtime series Homeland, for the 2012 and 2013 she received two Golden Globes and two Emmys.

Private

Danes has since September 2009 been married to Hugh Dancy, whom she had met while shooting the film traces a life. On December 17, 2012 their son was born. Previously, she had relationships with actor Matt Damon (1996 ), the Australian musician Ben Lee ( 1997-2003) and the actor Billy Crudup (2003-2006).
