Claire Simpson

Claire Simpson is a British film editor, both an Academy Award for Best Editing, twice won the British Academy Film Award for Best Editing and the Eddie, the Film Award of the American Cinema Editors (ACE).

Life

Claire Simpson began her career as a film editor in the film industry in 1981 at the film Reds and previously served on the production of more than twenty films.

At the Academy Awards in 1987 she won the Oscar for Best Editing for Platoon ( 1986) by Oliver Stone starring Charlie Sheen, Tom Berenger and Willem Dafoe in the lead roles. In addition, she won this the Eddie Award by the American Cinema Editors (ACE ), and also won in 1988 for the first time the British Academy Film Awards ( BAFTA Film Award ) for the best cut.

In 2006 she received a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Editing for The Constant Gardener (2005) by Fernando Meirelles with Ralph Fiennes, Rachel Weisz and Hubert Koundé. For this film she won the BAFTA Film Award again for the best cut and also received nominations also for the Eddie for Best Editing in a Drama as well as for the Online Film Critics Society Award for Best Editing.

2010 Claire Simpson was nominated together with Wyatt Smith for the first recipient of the Critics Award for Best Editing the Broadcast Film Critics Association ( BFCA Award), namely for Musical Romance Nine (2009) by Rob Marshall with the main actors Daniel Day Lewis, Marion Cotillard and Penelope Cruz. In addition, they received and Wyatt Smith also nominated for a Satellite Award for the best film editing.
