Clan Chisholm

Chisholm is the name of a Scottish clan, originally came from the county Chiesholme in Berwick and Roxburghshire and Norman origin.

History

When Robert of Chiesholme 1359 Constable of Urquhart Castle on the western shore of Loch Ness was, parts of the family settled in the area around Inverness, especially in the northern west of Loch Ness. 1715 was attended by about 200 members of communities in part on the side of the Jacobites at the Battle of Sheriffmuir; 1746 fought the clan at the Battle of Culloden. The motto of the clan is Feros ferio ("I am fierce with the Militant ").
