Clan Colquhoun

Colquhoun is the name of a Scottish clan, named after the eponymous lands in Dunbartonshire and from Luss on the western shore of Loch Lomond is derived, which was acquired by marriage.

History

In 1603 they were involved in a neighborly conflict when they attacked the MacGregors, to protect their own interests in the area around the hole. In Glenfruin meant the end for two hundred Colquhoun, while only two MacGregors were killed, which prompted the king to explain the MacGregors for outlaws. For Colquhoun had the battle meant that they were never taken seriously as a fighter; but they had at times a certain political effect.

The motto of the clan is Si je puis ( " If I can ").
