Clan Davidson

Davidson is the name of a Scottish clan, who is from Badenoch on the upper reaches of the Spey.

History

Named after the first Chief, David Dubh of Invernahaven, the clan in the 14th century part of the Clan Chattan, an association of several highland tribes was. As the Cameron Mackintosh's 1370 attack, a member of the Clan Chattan, the Mackintosh called on their allies for help. The Davidsons and the Macpherson got into a argument about who should occupy the place of honor on the right side of the battle, and the Macpherson withdrew from the name of honor. The Camerons beat the other clans and the Davidsons suffered heavy losses, although the Cameron Macpherson later still defeated. To resolve their disputes in 1396 to some selected Davidsons and Macpherson met to fight each other to the death; a battle that lost the Davidsons.

The clan motto is sapienter si sincere ( " way if honest ").
