Clan Forbes

Forbes is the name of a Scottish clan from Aberdeenshire.

History

According to legend, the clan was formed when the progenitor Oconochar killed a bear living there, and the area therefore made ​​habitable. 1271 feud was officially confirmed. The lands were lost when Alexander Forbes, 4th Lord Forbes of Pitsligo, participated in the wrong, namely the Jacobite side in the Rebellion of 1745.
