Clan Grant
Grant is the name of a Scottish clan, which is south-west of Loch Ness, and is home to the Speytal.
History
Laurance le Grant laid the foundation for this, as he was at 1258 Sheriff of Inverness; the lands in Speytal became a successor named by Iain marriage. As a reward for loyalty to King William of Orange, this created a semi-autonomous principality, whereupon the Grants were anti- Jacobite from the Speygebiet in contrast to those from the Great Glen during the Jakobiteraufstände.
The motto of the clan is almost level ( "Is resistant ").
