MacLeod ( " son of Leod " ) is the name of a Scottish clan, who hails from the Outer Hebrides and its members are also located on the Isle of Skye and in some coastal areas of the Highlands.

History

Progenitor of the clan Leod is the son of a Norwegian king of the 13th century. From Leods two sons, Tormod and Torquil, emerged two sub-branches, which are commonly called clan Tormod and Torquil communities. The Tormod, who called themselves as the MacLeod of MacLeod and came from Harris and Skye, fought with Robert the Bruce at Bannockburn.
