Clapboard (architecture)

The weatherboarding is a horizontally mounted wood paneling, in which the respective upper board covers the below it a few inches, so that the rain can not enter between the boards. The weatherboarding is mainly on facades, to protect against weather conditions attached. Often the boards are sawn so as to give a drip nose in profile, so that the effluent water can not run at the contact surface and possibly penetrate by capillary action.

Newer Weatherboarding usually consist of wedge-shaped tongue-and -groove boards. This type is also called wedge bung formwork.
