Clara Peeters

Clara Peeters (* 1594 in Antwerp, Duchy of Brabant; † 1658) was a Flemish painter who is best known for her still lifes.

The exact dates of Clara Peeters ' birth are not known; However, it is believed that she was born in 1594 in Antwerp. Your earliest posterity known oil painting dates from 1607 / 1608. They lived first in Antwerp, then in 1612 but moved to Amsterdam and finally in 1617 to The Hague. In 1639, she then married Henrik Joossen in Antwerp. The last known information about them is a painting of 1657, which was lost, however. The exact circumstances of her death are unknown.

Clara Peeters is considered one of the pioneers of still life painting in the 17th century. It is recognized to the introduction of the still life type breakfast scene in the Netherlands.
