Clarence House

Clarence House is the official residence of the British heir to the throne Prince Charles and his wife Camilla. With St. James 's Palace Clarence House is a building complex, where it is located within the walls of that royal palace.

The term Clarence House stands metonymically for the personal office or the press spokesman for the Prince of Wales. The building is located in the City of Westminster in west London on the boulevard near The Mall from Buckingham Palace.

History

1825-1828 Clarence House was built by John Nash. The building has four floors and is clad in white stucco. Alfred of Saxe- Coburg -Gotha used the building. Almost half a century, from 1953 until her death in 2002, Clarence House, the residence of the Queen Mother. 2002/2003 it was renovated for 10 million euros. The office of Prince William and Prince Harry was moved to the nearby St. James 's Palace in 2009.
