Clarion is the county seat of Clarion County in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania with more than 6,000 inhabitants, which is about one -seventh of the total population of the county. The distance to Pittsburgh is about 160 km south-southwest direction.

The city has an area of 3.9 km ². It is located on Interstate 80, the second- longest Interstate Highway in the United States, just east of the center of the county, bounded on the northeast by the Highland Township and is otherwise surrounded by the Clarion Township.

The town was settled in 1839, its official foundation took place two years later. The Clarion County Courthouse is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
