Clark County (Kansas)

Clark County is a county located in the state of Kansas in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Ashland. The county is one of the Dry counties, which means that the sale of alcohol is restricted or prohibited.

Geography

The County is located in southwest Kansas, on the south by Oklahoma and has an area of ​​2531 square kilometers, of which seven square kilometers of water surface. It borders in Kansas clockwise at Concordia counties: Ford County, Kiowa County, Comanche County and Meade County.

History

Clark County was formed on March 7, 1885 parts of Ford County. It was named after Charles F. Clarke, an officer in the American Civil War, who died at the Battle of Memphis.
