Clark County (Kentucky)

Clark County is a county located in the state of Kentucky in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Winchester, which was named after the city in Virginia.

Geography

The County is located in the central northeastern Kentucky and has an area of 661 square kilometers, of which two square miles are water. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Bourbon County, Montgomery County, Powell County, Madison County and Fayette County.

History

Clark County was formed on December 6, 1792 from portions of Bourbon County and Fayette County. It was named after General George Rogers Clark.
