Clarksburg is a city in the U.S. state of West Virginia and the county seat ( county seat ) of Harrison County. According to the 2000 census, the town has 16,743 inhabitants.

History

Named after George Rogers Clark since 1778 place in 1785 officially registered as a church. In 1836 the highway Northwestern Turnpike Clarksburg, which was paved here in 1848 and today runs as U.S. Highway 50 through the city reached.
