The class is a hierarchical level of biological systematics. A class is between the parent and order. More classes are grouped in some cases to a superclass. A class can also be divided into subclasses. Sometimes, in zoology, the term infra category (Latin infra, " below " ) or the subclass is also used when a taxon between subclass and superorder is necessary. Between the superclass and the class the series will be provided when needed yet.

Examples of classes within the subphylum of vertebrates are reptiles, amphibians and mammals. Another tribe, which the arthropods, the class of insects is assigned.
