Classic Rock

Classic rock is a style that designates the currents of the skirt, which go back to their roots to the year 1965 to 1975. The term Classic Rock was created in January 1981 by the then newly established radio station WYSP from Philadelphia. He had on his playlist, the music of the early phase of the rock between 1965 and the punk explosion of the mid- 1970s.

Classic Rock stands for:

• A popular in the late 1960s variety of rock music. In contrast to the related with the soul music style that R & B is, this was dominated by white, originating from England bands like The Rolling Stones, The Animals, The Kinks, The Yardbirds and The Who.

In the area of ​​format radio stations Classic Rock is one of a subset of album oriented rock ( AOR). In the U.S. send so-called classic rock stations around the clock rock classics. Also in Germany there are those stations, for example Rockland Radio from Mainz, and Radio 21 from Garbsen near Hanover. The latter two stations, however, have carried out on 17 August 2009 a relaunch of their program so that they can be listed no more than classic rock stations. Classic Rock is regarded as traditional radio format. Increasingly, more modern formats are Active Rock, Mainstream Rock, Modern rock and alternative rock. In Saarland, there is the classic rock radio station that delivers 24 hours a day rock songs for the Saarland.
