Classical Armenian

Altarmenisch (also Grabar or classical Armenian) has been since at least the 5th century after the invention of the Armenian alphabet for the written language. In the ecclesiastical sphere Grabar is also still used in modern times and is the official language of the Armenian Church. In this language, a rich literature on theological themes, historical events, poetry and epic poetry was handed down.
