Clatsop County, Oregon
Clatsop County is a county located in the northwest of the state of Oregon of the United States. In 2000, there were 35 630 people, in 2005 there were 36,798. The the county seat ( county seat ) is located in Astoria. The County was named for the Clatsop Indians who lived in the area.
Geography
The county has an area of 2,809 square kilometers; of which 667 square miles ( 23.74 percent) of water. In Clatsop County are among others the Saddle Mountain State Park, Ecola State Park, Fort Stevens State Park, part of the Oswald West State Park and the island Tenasillahe Iceland in the Columbia River.

According to the census of 2000, there were 35 630 people in the county. There were 14,703 households, and 9,454 families. The population density was 17 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 93.14 % White, 0.52 % African American, 1.03 % Native American, 1.21 % Asian, 0.17 % Pacific Islander residents from the and 1.64 % percent from other ethnic groups; 2.30% were descended from two or more races. 4.48 % of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 14,703 households out of which 28.50 % have children under the age of 18 living with them. 50.60 % were married couples living together, 9.70 % had a female householder with no husband. 35.70% were non-families. 29.50 % of all households and 11.70 % had someone living alone at the age of 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.35 and the average family size was 2.88.
Based on the county the population was spread out with 23.70 % under the age of 18, 8.90 % from 18 to 24, 25.30 % from 25 to 44 years, 26.60% between 45 and 64 years and 15.60% were 65 years old or older. The average age was 40 years. For every 100 females there were 97.80 males, 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.10 males.
The median income for a household was $ 36,301, and the median income for a family was $ 44,575. Males had a median income of $ 32,153, women $ 22,479. The per capita income was $ 19,515. 13.20% of the population and 9.10% of families are below the poverty line. 16.80% of those under age 18 and 8.00% were 65 years or older.
