Claude Arabo

Claude Arabo ( born October 3, 1937 in Nice, † July 3, 2013 ) was a French saber fencer.

Achievements

Claude Arabo was the most successful French fencer of the 60s of last century, he won the French Championships five times in individual saber.

In 1960 he went to for the first time at the Olympic Games in Rome and took fourth place in the individual. In 1962 he won at the World Championships in Buenos Aires bronze in singles. In his second Olympics in Tokyo in 1964 he achieved his greatest success: He erfocht silver in the individual behind Pézsa Tibor from Hungary after stinging. With the team he finished fourth.

He also won at the World Championships in Paris in 1965 with the team bronze at the 1966 World Championships in Moscow and at the World Championships in Montreal in 1967. In his final 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City his team finished behind the team from the USSR, Italy and Hungary, the fourth place in the individual he placed ninth.
