Claude Gauvreau

Claude Gauvreau ( born August 19, 1925 in Montreal, † July 7, 1971 ibid ) was a Canadian writer.

Gauvreau studied at the Jesuit Collège Sainte -Marie and to 1947 at the University of Montreal. In 1942 he came to the group of automatists around the painter Paul -Émile Borduas, in which he was active as a critic as a poet and playwright, from 1945.

An edition of his complete works was published only in 1977. 1992 Jean Salvy wrote a scenic adaptation of Beauté baroque. 1993 his correspondence with Jean -Claude Dussault in pressure. His piece L' asile de la pureté was performed in 2003 by the Théâtre du Nouveau Monde.
