Claude Miller

Claude Miller ( born February 20, 1942 in Paris, † April 4, 2012 ) was a French film director and screenwriter.

Career

Claude Miller was born into a Jewish petty bourgeois family. He studied at the film school IDHEC in Paris, the École Nationale Supérieure des métiers today de l'image et du son La fémis. Later works followed as an assistant director on the side of Marcel Carné directed by the likes of Michel Deville, Jean -Luc Godard, Robert Bresson and Jacques Demy. From 1968 to 1975 Miller worked as a production manager in various films by François Truffaut with, an experience that shaped Miller decisive. During this period, several short films, but only in 1976 was followed by his first feature film Our way is the best, which was nominated several times for the French César film award. It was followed by further César nominations (and some prices) for his films. In 1985, Miller Charlotte Gainsbourg was her first major film role in his film, The Naughty Girls. In 1998, Miller the Grand Jury Prize at Cannes for his film The class trip (writer Emmanuel Carrère ).

At Miller's best-known films also include The interrogation with Romy Schneider and the eye with Isabelle Adjani.

Claude Miller was president since 2007, the film school La fémis in Paris. After his death, his last film, the film adaptation was Thérèse ( Original title: Thérèse Desqueyroux ) selected based on the novel by François Mauriac with Audrey Tautou in the title role, as the closing film of the 65th International Film Festival of Cannes.
