Due to its performance, especially in the UEFA Cup coach Michel Hidalgo summoned him to the French squad for the World Cup finals in 1978; this decision had a " sleepless night cost " Hidalgo - not because he was with respect to the Corsicans uncertain, but because he had to leave for another team regular at home. In Argentina, Papi was in, however, already had become meaningless last game of the preliminary round against Hungary ( 3-1 ) in the starting line - as his teammates in a borrowed green and white striped jersey, because the blue shirts had been forgotten in the property and carried white Dress could not be used because the Hungarians also wore white jerseys.
