Claude Turmes

Claude tower ( * November 26, 1960 in Diekirch ) is a Luxembourgian politician ( Déi Gréng ) and Member of the European Parliament.

Life and Politics

After secondary education studied tower in Louvain- la -Neuve Physical Education and has worked since 1986 as a sports teacher.

His interest was even at that time the environmental field. Since 1989 he has been active in the environmental organization Mouvement écologique 1995-1997 he was secretary of the umbrella organization Friends of the Earth Europe. Its thematic focus is energy policy since that time. So it was between 1995 and 1997 also Vice President of the NGO EUFORES, which campaigns for renewable energy in Europe.

1999 Claude tower was first elected to the Luxembourg Green Party Déi Gréng as one of six members of his country in the European Parliament. 2004 and 2009 respectively him the re-election succeeded in increasing shares of votes for Déi Gréng. Since 2002, the tower is vice chairman of the Greens - EFA and confirmed in this function 2004 and 2009.
