Claude V. Parsons

Claude VanCleve Parsons ( * October 7, 1895 at McCormick, Pope County, Illinois, † May 23 1941 in Washington DC ) was an American politician. Between 1930 and 1941 he represented the state of Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Claude Parsons attended the common schools and taught thereafter until 1922 even as a teacher. In 1923 he graduated from the Southern Illinois State Normal School in Carbondale. Between 1922 and 1930, officiated Parsons School Board in Pope County. At the same time he was also a newspaper publisher and editor. He also proposed as a member of the Democratic Party launched a political career.

After the resignation of Republican Representatives Thomas Sutler Williams Parsons was chosen as his successor in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington at the due election for the 24th seat from Illinois, where he took up his new mandate on 4 November 1930. After five elections he could remain until January 3, 1941 at the Congress. During this time most of the New Deal legislation of the Federal Government there were passed under President Franklin D. Roosevelt. In 1935, the provisions of the 20th Amendment to the Constitution were first applied, after which the term of the Congress ends, or begins on January 3.

In 1940, Claude Parsons was not re-elected. From February 14th 1941 to his death on May 23 of the same year he worked for the United States Housing Authority.
