Claudia Gesell

Claudia Gesell ( Claudia Andrea Barbara Gesell, after marriage Meier - company; born December 18, 1977 in Tirschenreuth ) is a German middle distance runner who specializes in the 800 - meter track.

In 1993 she moved from triathlon to athletics and 1996 Junior World Champion in the 800 meters and with the German 4 x 400 - meter relay. It was about 800 meters U23 European Champion in 1999 and came at the World Athletics Championships in Seville as well as the semi-finals a year later at the Olympic Games in Sydney.

At the European Championships in Munich in 2002 it was equally as fifth in the World Athletics Championships 2003 in Paris / Saint- Denis. During the 2004 season she was handicapped by several influenza infections and retired at the Olympic Games in Athens in the flow.

An injury to the Achilles tendon prevented in 2005 to participate in the World Championships in Helsinki and made a require surgery.

Five times she was outdoors (1998-2000, 2002, 2003 ) and once in the hall ( 2005) German champion in the 800 meters.

Claudia companies started from 1999 to 2005 for TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen and then moved to LAV ASICS Tübingen. She matriculated at the Max -Reger -Gymnasium in Amberg and after studying at the Technical University of Munich since 2006 qualified sports scientist.

After various injuries she ended her active career in 2007.

Claudia Meier - Gesell is married and has two children.
