Claudio Gentile

Claudio Gentile ( born September 27, 1953 in Tripoli, Libya ) is a retired Italian footballer and current coach.

Career

As a player

Claudio Gentile's career began in the youth department of FC Varese. In the 1971/72 season he played in Arona in Serie D. For the following season, he returned to Varese.

When he moved to Juventus in 1973, he was on his position as left or right full-back already a seasoned player. For years he was known for his level-headed, but consistent man coverage. Accordingly, great were his successes he achieved with the Turin club. Until his departure from Juventus in 1984, he had the white- black jersey worn a total of 414 times. For the 1984/85 season he moved to Fiorentina, where he played for three years. In 1987, he then went to Piacenza Calcio.
