Morel the national team of Paraguay (2010)

Claudio Marcelo Morel Rodríguez ( born February 2, 1978 in Asunción, Paraguay ) is a Paraguayan football player. The defender began his career in Argentina with San Lorenzo de Almagro. In 2007 he won with CA Boca Juniors in the Copa Libertadores, he also won a total of four times the Copa Sudamericana, and its predecessor competition, the Copa Mercosur. With the national team he participated at the 2007 Copa América and the 2010 FIFA World Cup finals. In 2010, he joined Deportivo La Coruna, but returned back to Argentina in 2012 and signed the CA Independiente.

Career

The son of Eugenio Morel - one who grew up in Argentina, Paraguay international, who won the 1979 Americas Cup teams, the Copa America - began with the 1995 football in the youth team of bonarenser top club San Lorenzo de Almagro.

From 1998 to 2004 the primarily established left-back or center-back Morel played in the first team of the club with which he 2001, the Argentine Clausura championship and the Copa Mercosur won. In 2002 he won with San Lorenzo also the first time played successor competition of Mercosur, the Copa Sudamericana. As early as 1999 he made his debut also in the Paraguayan national football team.

Mid-2004 Morel moved to Boca Juniors with whom he still reüssierte in the same year 's Copa Sudamericana. 2005 is currently the only successful title defense succeeded in this competition. 2005, 2006 and 2007, he also with Boca Juniors won the Argentine one half series championships. But the highlight was winning the Copa Libertadores in 2007 by two clear victories in the finals against the Brazilian club Grêmio Foot -Ball Porto Alegrense.

In 2007 he participated with the national team at the Copa America in Venezuela, the statistically occupied the sixth degree rank there. As a 32 -year-old he took 2010 for the first time at a World Cup and was part of the regular cast of Paraguay in South Africa.

In 2008 he was chosen as the Paraguayan Footballer of the Year.

After his contract with Boca Juniors had expired, Morel moved in August 2010 free transfer in the Spanish La Liga to Deportivo La Coruna. He signed a contract for two years. After two years in Spain, he returned to Argentina in 2012, back where he now plays for CA Independiente.
