Clausensee

The Clausensee is a reservoir in Schwarzbach in the western Palatinate Forest ( Rhineland -Palatinate).

Geography

The Clausensee is located about ten kilometers east of Federal Highway 270 (Kaiserslautern - Pirmasens ) between forest Fischbach Castle albums and glues. It is drained by the Schwarzenbach, who is mentioned in this section also Burgalb.

The surrounding mountains of the Palatinate forest overhanging the lake by up to 200 meters: The Big Dog Mountain in the north is 477 meters high, the Hesselnberg in the southwest 465 meters, the 503 meters to the southeast Narrow head.

Properties

The lake is about 450 meters long and 90 meters wide, its total area is four and a half acres. In the middle of up to five meters deep lake is an island. The water quality is considered to be above average.

Tourism

The lake is used for tourism. By the lake there is a campground and an ( unsupervised ) beach. On the last weekend in July every year there is a lake festival. Attractions around the lake are treated under Schwarzbach.
