Clavinet
A Clavinet is an analog, electro- mechanical keyboard instrument with 60 keys and was built by Hohner in Germany. The sound is similar to a harpsichord. Designed as "Electric Clavichord " Clavinet was used particularly in the 1970s when many radio and rock recordings.
Tone
The clav has diagonal strained tunable string, which is wrapped at one end with wool for vibration damping, for each tone. Under each key on the keyboard there is a bolt ( tangent ) of the string strikes a small anvil on pressing the button. The string vibrates now in the undamped part and is taken there via an electromagnetic pickup (corresponding to a pickup of the electric guitar ). The entire string is muted again by releasing the button. Volume and character of the sound can be consciously influenced by the velocity. Due to noise generated in this tone ( a clearly audible " Ploppton " ) produces a characteristic " release " sound, which is desired by many players and is regarded as an important element of the sound.
The Clavinet has a built-in pre-amp filter electronics, which is operated by 9V battery or its power adapter. In models D6 and E7 are to the left of the keyboard the button to adjust the sound. They are labeled with " brilliant ", " Treble", " medium ", and "soft " and " A / B" and " C / D" and allow a rapid change in the sound tone to.
At the sound of a room Clavinet requires a corresponding power amplifier and subsequent speakers.
