Clayton Zane

John Clayton Zane ( born July 12, 1977 in Newcastle) is a former Australian football player who played in his time, especially in Norway and Belgium and for the Australian national football team.

Career

In his youth, Zane played at the Cessnock Hornets and the Adamstown Rosebuds. In 1995 he moved to the Newcastle Breakers, for which he ran aground 70 times, scoring 17 goals. In summer 1998, he signed a contract with Northern Spirit of Sydney. In 30 games, he scored three goals here. 2000 was followed by a one-year commitment at Molde FK in Norway, 2001, he moved to Lillestrøm SK for which he scored 18 goals in 29 games and 2001 scorer. He also was voted the best player of the season. His career ended in 2005 Zane at RSC Anderlecht in Belgium, for which he spent three years active, but only ten times aground and scored two goals.

The Australian National Zane played between 2000 and 2001 16 times and scored six goals. In 2001 he was a member of the squad at the Confederations Cup, in 2000 he won the OFC Nations Cup when he came on in the 80th minute for Craig Foster. In the 2000 Olympics he also ran on for Australia.
