Cleat knot

The head is the final blow for allocation ( = mooring for example, a line ) on a cleat.

For a head blow is the loose part - this is the one end of the rope, where nothing is fixed - diagonally out of the cleat and formed into a bay. The bay is twisted to one eye and placed over the horn of the cleat that the loose part comes down to lying down.

If the carotid set correctly, the lines of the two last are set parallel to each other eyes, so that they rub against each other over a long distance and then the carotid holds very well. If the carotid contrast set incorrectly, the two are finally set eyes on the cross.

In other words: It is true, if all business lines cross the cleat. It would be wrong if the part of the head strike would be parallel to the cleat.

The carotid secures the leash so occupied against unintentional loosening.

More details to seize a line see under documents.
