Cleavage (embryo)#Meroblastic

Superficial cleavage is a form of meroblastic segmentation, that is a partial cleavage yolk- rich eggs.

Here, from the nucleus of the zygote by nuclear divisions many more nuclei formed, initially all in the same cytoplasm present without dividing membranes ( syncytium ). This eventually arrange themselves at the edge of the nucleus and are associated microtubules and microfilaments on firmly to the cytoplasm surrounding it. The resulting "islands" are called Energiden. Only after about 13 divisions of the nucleus to plasma membranes form between them.

This Furchungstyp is to be found in many arthropods. Due to the lack of partitions in the early stages of the formation and effect of gradient ( growth factors, mRNAs ) can well understand.
