Clemens-Brentano-Preis

Clemens Brentano Prize was donated by the city of Heidelberg in 1993 and is one conferred annually since 1995 prize for literature. The city named it in memory of Clemens Brentano, who lived in Heidelberg for several years.

The Literature Prize is awarded in collaboration with the Department of Germanic Studies at the Ruprecht -Karls -Universität Heidelberg usually at young writers who have already drawn attention to themselves by first publications. With the award, which is endowed with 10,000 euros (with two winners the prize money is shared ), they are to be financially relieved something to take on new projects. It is awarded alternately in the fields of poetry, short story, novel and essay. The jury consists of publishing editors, writers, literary critics, and - as a special feature - from students of Germanistisches Department of the University.
