Clemens Freiherr von Schorlemer-Lieser

Clemens August Freiherr von Schorlemer -Lieser ( born September 29, 1856 at home Alst Horstmar; † July 6, 1922 in Hedwig Hospital in Berlin) was a German politician.

Life

Freiherr von Schorlemer came from the urwestfälischen Catholic nobility Schorlemer. He was the second eldest son of the German politicians Burghard of Schorlemer - Alst and Countess Anna of Imbsen to Wewer, widowed von Droste zu Vischering ( 1820-1891 ). After schooling at the Gymnasium Dionysianum in Rheine, where he in 1874, the Abitur, he studied in Würzburg and Göttingen Jura. In Würzburg he became a member of the Catholic Student Association K.St.V. Walhalla Würzburg in CT. In 1878 he received his doctorate and did his military service. In 1880 he married the wealthy Maria Puricelli (* February 1, 1855 Krefeld, † 1936), daughter of the steelworks, gasworks, Knight and winery owner Eduard Puricelli ( 1826-1893 ), later a million fortune inherited. Together they bought a winery in Lieser on the Moselle and built the castle of Villa Puricelli in Lieser from ( Schloss Lieser ), whose name chose Freiherr von Schorlemer for themselves. The couple had six children. Her two sons Friedrich Leo (1894-1915) and August (1885-1940) died in the first or in the second world war,

On June 18, 1910 Schorlemer rose to the Prussian Minister of Agriculture. He held until 1917 this office. 1918 appointed him the Chamber of Agriculture for the Rhine Province as its chairman. In addition, he was now a member of the Prussian House of Lords.

Since April 1920, he was Kreisdeputierter the district Bernkastel. After Clemens Freiherr von Schorlemer -Lieser was in 1922 died in Hedwig Hospital in Berlin, obituaries honored him as a politician between Catholicism and Prussia, aristocratic origin and commitment to the working class, patriotic enthusiasm and incorruptible administration.
